Detroit – The City

Detroit is a city that has gone through abandonment issues and bankruptcy.   We decided to have our first visit to explore how it has prospered in the recent years.

Downtown was the heartbeat of Detroit.  From the Riverwalk to central park Campus Martius, there were various new hotels, shops as well as restaurants to experience.  The brunch we had at Dime Store and then dinner at the Parc was not a disappointment.  As evening set in, there was live music and people were dancing.  Electric scooters were ubiquitous in the downtown area, and it had evolved into a vibrant part of this city.

Saturday was the busiest and eventful day at the Eastern Market of Detroit.  You could find a variety of local ingredients from farmers here or walk through the neighborhood to enjoy the urban street art.  The market was worth hanging around but other surrounding areas may be a bit rundown and we wished there was more street food choices.  Riding the antiquated elevator at a local grocery store that we passed by was the most interesting part of the day.  I adored their old-fashioned interior and vintage merchandises.

Visiting Troy Michigan might be more interesting than going to museums. Troy was a city of its own with a friendlier and cozier neighbourhood. Shopping queens will absolutely love Somerset mall. The mall merges the world’s most desirable brands all-in-one, which may take up half of your day to browse.
